Agency Banking Accounts

Agency Banking enables regulated institutions to use self-issued account identifiers and their own SWIFT BIC, with Banking Circle providing scheme access and settlement.

Account Whitelisting for Incoming Payments

To receive incoming payments on your self-issued account identifiers (e.g. IBANs or local equivalents), you must first whitelist them with Banking Circle. This is mandatory for all instant payment schemes supported:

  • EUR SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst)
  • GBP UK Faster Payments (FPS)
  • DKK Instant
  • SEK Instant

Whitelisting Process

  1. Submit a Whitelist Request
Use the Request Whitelisting of Accounts for Agency Banking endpoint to upload your self-issued account identifiers (e.g. IBANs).
  2. Track Request Status
Monitor the outcome using the Whitelist Request Status Endpoint.
  3. Go Live
Once whitelisted, the account identifiers are active for incoming payments. No further action is required.

Sandbox Testing

Verification of Payee (VOP) Support

The same whitelisting process can be used by Agency Banking VOP participants leveraging Banking Circle’s solution - including for non-instant schemes like SEPA Credit Transfer - to register account holder information for use as a PSP Responder.

⚠️ This requires prior completion of the EPC VOP Adherence Process and technical onboarding with Banking Circle. Submissions of account holder information will not be processed without this onboarding.

Note: A separate technical setup may be required for CoP (GBP). Please contact us for details.

Key Notes

  • Whitelisting is only required to enable incoming payments via instant schemes. It is not needed for initiating outgoing payments or for accounts processing non-instant schemes (e.g. SEPA Credit Transfer).
  • However, the same process should be used to register account holder information for VOP purposes on non-instant accounts, supporting the PSP Responder role.
  • Ensure all account identifiers (e.g. IBANs) are correctly formatted and linked to your SWIFT BIC and relevant national clearing code (e.g. sort code in the UK).
