Aliases (PayID, etc.)
Banking Circle supports the use of different, local account alias services
PayID (Australia)
PayID is an Australian payment addressing system that lets you send and receive money using simple identifiers—like a mobile number, email address, or business number—instead of traditional bank details such as BSB and account numbers. It links these easy-to-remember aliases to a bank account and is typically used with real-time payment networks (like Australia’s New Payments Platform), making transfers faster, simpler, and less error-prone.
PayID with Banking Circle accounts
PayID enables Banking Circle accounts to be addressed using simple, easy-to-remember identifiers—such as email addresses, mobile numbers, or business registration numbers—instead of traditional bank details. A PayID can be linked to both master (physical) accounts and virtual accounts issued by Banking Circle, acting as an alias that resolves to the underlying account for payment routing.
When linked to a master account, a PayID provides a convenient way to receive payments directly into the primary account. When linked to a virtual account, PayID extends the existing capabilities within the Virtual Banking domain, by allowing each virtual account to be reached via a unique alias. For both master- and virtual accounts, PayID enables efficient customer-specific collection, reconciliation, and simplified payer experience. PayIDs do not hold funds themselves but serve as an additional addressing layer, complementing existing identifiers like IBAN or local clearing details.
Through the Banking Circle API, you can manage PayID aliases for your Banking Circle-issued accounts. We offer a simple API integration through which you can create, update, and remove PayID aliases for your accounts in a fast and efficient manner.
